We had the privilege of writing an article for the Northwest Public Power Association last month. The piece looks at how to embrace change in a post-COVID-19 environment. This is how one industry, public power, is addressing the new challenges. It shares how public utilities are shifting quickly to adapt to the “new normal”. But the lessons learned are relevant to businesses across industries.
Adapting to changes and trends in the market isn’t new. But the rate of change required due to COVID-19 was unprecedented, and there were some clear winners and losers across industries. Public power did not have the luxury to wait it out or hope things changed so they could get back to normal. Supplying reliable power to communities regardless of what else was happening in the world was critical for the survival of almost all other industries. So, what did we all learn from it? And how do we adjust in case anything of this magnitude happens again?
A big “thank you” to NWPPA for the opportunity to write this piece and for the many individuals in Washington, Montana, Oregon, Idaho, and California who helped contribute to the article with their insights post-COVID-19.
